BBC Tuesday

24th July 2007

Today’s outing for BBC East Midland’s Today was rather pleasant: a trip to Twycross Zoo to meet Brian Blessed. Brian was opening a new exhibit based on the ‘longhouses of Borneo’ (these are a sort of long house, in Borneo). He, along with His Excellency the High Commissioner of Malaysia, performed all the neccessaries for an opening ceremony and then stuck around for an interview. The trouble is, the name Brian Blessed is a stealthy tongue-twister and it took three goes before I got it right. Good job it wasn’t a live broadcast. Mr B. was happily understanding, and says that he has trouble saying it too.
