Today’s story for East Midlands Today was about an MP’s new fund to help the families of those who have been injured in Iraq or Afghanistan. The fund was launched by Newark MP Patrick Mercer next to the war memorial in Newark Cemetary. The most humbling part of the day was meeting Lance Corporal Nick Davies who was ambushed in Afghanistan last May and lost his leg in the explosion.
