Today’s jaunt for BBC East Midlands Today (and BBC News24 as it happens) was a trip to Chatsworth to meet the Duke of Devonshire and the latest addition to his art collection.

Chatsworth House regularly hosts college art exhibitions. The Duke liked some of the work at a recent show by 18 year old artist Matthew Cox. When Matt asked for a picture of the Duke so that he could paint his portrait in a Lucien Freud style, the Duke suggested he sat for a proper portrait. Two hours of sketching with the Duke and two months of solitary toil later and Matt was ready to unveil his work of art which will be hanging here for the next three months.
