BBC East Midlands Today sent me to the pub today to see what’s thought to be the world’s first inflatable smoking shelter. The idea was hatched over a few sparkling perries with the landlady and a regular. (It helped that this regular builds bouncy castles for a living). They may well catch on as they adhere to the health and safety restrictions and because they are temporary structures they don’t need planning permission. Plus they don’t pop when you stub a cigarette out on them, although this is not to be advised as they will mark and the landlady will get cross.
