Let me tell you about the DISASTER that be-fell me last Thursday. I was continuing my filming for the NCVS. I was at a football match in Ilkeston filming a team of single fathers called Top Dogs. When I left they were losing 3-0, but that’s not the disaster. I was miles away from the pitch looking for my team who hadn’t arrived yet, when my camera EXPLODED. It took a while to work out what was going on: the monitor was severed and shattered. I was under attack. “Sorry,” a footballer shouted from the other side of the goal. He’d been warming up. I suppose my monitor is goal shaped, but I suspect he was just a very bad shot. “Is it broken?” he whimpered. To borrow from football vernacula, “Very VERY much so, Brian”. A new camera is winging its way to me as we speak, as is an insurance claim form. I just hope they both get on well. Disaster.
