World Record
17th March 2008
For BBC East Midlands Today I nipped over to Loughborough to see what will soon by the world’s largest painting painted-by-numbers. It’s the work of a local artist and a collection of 19 churches (and hundreds of volunteers). There’s 2 miles worth of scaffolding supporting the structure outside St Emmanuel Church, and day by day it will grow depicting different stages of the Easter story. Come Easter Monday it will be complete and no doubt break the hearts of those Chinese school children who currently hold the record.
Meanwhile I think I may have broken a world record by finishing filming at 16.50 and getting the package edited and on air by 18.40: no mean feat since my cameraman/chauffeur kicked me out at Loughborough train station having remembered that he had to go to another job and couldn’t give me a lift back to Nottingham afterall.
